OVERVIEW
My time @ Chase
JPMorganChase is the largest bank in the country with over $4.9 trillion in assets, more branches than any other U.S. bank, and customers who rely on it for everything from a first debit card to a mortgage.
During my 10 weeks at Chase, I was a Product Design Intern on the Claims, Disputes, and Fraud Operations team as a part of JPMC's Design Development Program. My project centered around scam prevention, and in particular, ways to bridge the gaps in customer trust of the bank. Working alongside two other interns, plus a team lead and manager who gave us real feedback throughout, made it one of the most collaborative summers I've had.
IMPACT
What I built
My research included user testing, branch visits with bankers, and sitting in on fraud specialist calls. From there, I built a high-fidelity prototype aimed at increasing customer trust to help prevent scams. I presented it to a panel of 200+ JPMC tech interns worldwide, plus the Head of Design for Chase Operations.

REFLECTION
Understanding the "Why"
Drafting a research report early forced me to define what I actually wanted from my interviews and testing before writing a single question. I used JPMC's AI research assistant to help, even a rough first pass sharpened my scope. That clarity paid off when parts of my first usability test didn't go as planned: I could still tell whether I'd hit my actual goal. I had.
The gift of collaboration
Splitting a project three ways taught me what real collaboration looks like: owning my piece of the puzzle while staying easy to work with, even outside of standard hours. My manager compared work to one long group project where the best collaborators know how to balance flexibility with boundaries. That balance is one of the biggest things I'm taking from this summer.
As my work is NDA protected, I am unable to show detailed concepts at this time. I'm happy to chat more about my overall experience and takeaways!
